about

Centennial Road is a beautiful stretch of vineyards just outside of Bowral. I've driven along it countless times throughout my life, and found myself revisiting those peaceful memories during lockdown last year. When it came to recording, I wanted to capture these memories and my surroundings as the song is so closely tied to them. I borrowed my mum's phone and used it to mic up the balcony while I was recording - you can actually hear a magpie caw-ing from the balcony at the very end of the song.

lyrics

Verse 1
For once, I felt at home
Driving down Centennial Road
Frame the light across the grass
Why would I drive fast

Right now
Don’t look down
Don’t miss the view

Chorus 1
I wish you could be warm with me
I wish I could be here for you
If I’m cold you’ll warm to me
I didn’t know I could lean on her too

Verse 2
The water was like glass
Laps in the ocean pass
The water pulled me in
Do you think we’ll be the same after this?

Chorus 2
I wish you could be warm with me
I wish I could be here for you
If I’m cold you’ll warm to me
I didn’t know I could lean on her too

Chorus 3
I wish you could be warm with me now
I wish I could be here for you
If I’m cold you’ll warm to me
I didn’t know I could lean on her too

Bridge
I didn’t know I could lean on her too
I didn’t know I could lean on her too
I didn’t know I could lean on her too

Outro
I’m feeling far
Pull me hard together now
I am sand, and you’re a stone
Am I ever gonna grow?

I know this road, But I’m feeling far
Pull me hard together now
Bring me sand, and you a stone
Am I ever gonna grow?
Am I ever gonna grow?
Am I ever gonna grow?
